Crystal & Brandon in Rochester

How We Met:
We met in college at Elim Bible Institute. We were both friends for two years before we started dating. We both committed three years to Bible school without the expectation of being with someone or seeking out a relationship. We began to pursue something more than a friendship during the end of our junior year.

How We Got Engaged:
Originally Brandon wanted to propose during a trip to Colorado in August, being that the state is beautiful. But knowing we wanted to be married by next summer we were already beginning to think about plans for the wedding before we were engaged. So when He was asking God, he felt that God gave him the release and blessing to get married. We took a trip to Michigan to celebrate his cousin's Bar Mitzvah. While we were getting ready for the celebration, Brandon was setting up in the hotel we were staying in. After getting ready Brandon had set up an assortment of white chocolate, carved into a violin, a music notes and a puppy. There were also an assortment of tulips and he had hand-written psalm 16 and put pictures of us all around it. he had me read Psalm 16 out loud. I really wasn't expecting him to propose; I thought he was just blessing me with something nice and thoughtful. At the end of the psalm it s aid 'At your right hand are pleasures forevermore'. He then said he couldn't promise a house, or wealth but a life full of pleasure and he then got down on his knee and asked if I would marry him. I said, 'um....I don't know...let me think about it...' (Just Kidding:) I said, 'Of course I'll marry you'. It was great because we got to celebrate with his family that night. The whole thing got on tape because Brandon set up his camera in a place I couldn't see.
