Ashley & Dan in Rochester

It was on my (Ashley's) birthday that it happened, June 27 when I turned 20. I got to choose whatever I wanted to do so first I chose to go to The Olive Garden for dinner, and then go walk on the beach. The beach is one of my favorite places to go because you can go out on the pier and look back and see all the lights, but it is also dark enough out on the pier that you can see the stars, if there are not clouds in the way. So we went and walked out along the pier which was so fun for me. Dan was acting somewhat unusual because he kept looking around like he was waiting for someone though. I just kind of brushed it off after teasing him a little bit about it, and before we knew it, we were back, walking along the sand just holding hands and talking. Then we stopped for a few minutes and were just dancing under the stars (and the clouds that night). As we were dancing, Dan said "Oh no, I'm starting to slip" like it was quicksand or something, and that is when he got down on one knee, holding a box with my ring in it. He then proceeded to ask me if I would marry him and of course, I said yes!
