help!! i dont know where to start

i just got engaged last week but we are planning on a short engagement compared to alot of people i know...its aug 2008.... so i figured i better get started asap and i have no idea where to start with the planning!! any suggestions??

I AM THE MOTHER OF A BRIDE OF THREE YEARS AND A BRIDE TO BE IN 2008. THE BEST WAY TO GET STARTED IS TO TALK TO YOUR FRIENDS WHO ARE ALREADY MARRIED. GET REFERRALS FROM THEM. NETWORKING IS A GREAT WAY TO MAKE CONNECTIONS AND SAVE MONEY. MAKE YOUR DOLLARS COUNT.

Start by determining your BUDGET!!! Weddings are VERY expensive (as I have come to find out) and you need to determine how much you can spend, then choose your locations, and go from there.

I am also getting married in August. First thing is to have an idea of how many people you want to have at your wedding/reception. Then figure out if you want the ceremony at a different place or the same place as your reception. Then start figuring out where you want to have the wedding. Once you get that part out of the way then you can figure out DJ, Florist, Pictures etc. Figure out who you want to have in your wedding party, the colors, etc. I would book the place first because those are going to fill up the quickest. I got engaged in July and there were already places booked for next August. Attending bridal shows is also helpful in getting to know the area and what services are out there. Also the local websites and local magazines are also very helpful. Just start calling diffent locations getting prices to compare and touring.
